Shaykh Rabīʿ on Those Who Attack Ahl al-Sunnah While Defending Ahl al-Bidʿah

Today, we see some who call themselves “Salafis,” yet day and night they speak ill of the mashāyikh of Ahl al-Sunnah and the duʿāt, making tabdīʿ of them unjustly and without clear proof. Our Shaykh, Rabīʿ bin Hādī al-Madkhalī, already highlighted and exposed the traits of such people long ago.

The ʿAllāmah Rabīʿ bin Hādī al-Madkhalī — ‘May Allah have Mercy on him — said:

“So if you see a person defaming Ahl al-Sunnah; then this is a proof that he is an innovator (mubtadiʿ), and he may be a heretic (zindīq). If you see a person defaming Ahl al-Sunnah and Ahl al-Hadīth, then he does not defame them except while he is an opposer to them, belittling what they possess. There is no doubt in that.

And if not, then what is it that drives him to defame the Sunnah and its people?! Nothing drives him except that he is misguided (ḍāll) and harbors deviation (zaygh), malice (khubth), and evil (sharr)! So this is from their signs; this is from the signs of the people of evil, and the signs of the people of innovation (Ahl al-Bidaʿ). And even if he said: ‘Indeed, I am from Ahl al-Sunnah,’ then do not believe him; because he is a liar!

And many of these counterfeit liars; he says to you: ‘I am a Salafī,’ while he is a liar. He did not say this except as a plot; like the hypocrite who says: ‘I am a believer, I am a Muslim;’ he says: ‘I am a Muslim!’ The hypocrite, and he gives charity and does such and such, while he wages war against Islam and hates its people.

So many of the people — now — are those who say: ‘I am a Salafī,’ yet you do not see him except hating Ahl al-Hadīth and defaming them!!

Ahl al-Hadīth are present — and all praise is due to Allah —; they are present in Makkah, they are present in Madīnah, they are present in Yemen, in India, in Pakistan, in every place, and he has no connection to Ahl al-Hadīth except war! He allies with the people of innovation (Ahl al-Bidaʿ) outwardly and inwardly, and he defends them, and he strives desperately in defending them!

So these individuals, there is no doubt that they are innovators (mubtadiʿah), even if they name themselves whatever they name themselves, and describe themselves with whatever they describe themselves; for these are from the signs that clarify their condition.”

قال العلامة ربيع بن هادي المدخلي رحمه الله :

(فإذا رأيت إنساناً يطعن في أهل السنة ؛ فهذا دليل على أنه مبتدع ، وقد يكون زنديقاً ؛ إذا رأيت إنساناً يطعن في أهل السنة وفي أهل الحديث ؛ فما يطعن فيهم إلا وهو مخالف لهم محتقر لما عندهم ، لا شك في ذلك.

وإلا فما الذي يدفعه إلى الطعن في السنة وأهلها ؟! ما يدفعه إلا أنه ضال وينطوي على زيغ وخبث وشر ! فهذا من علاماتهم ؛ هذا من علامات أهل الشر وعلامات أهل البدع ، ولو قال : إني من أهل السنة فلا تصدقه ؛ لأنه كذاب !

وكثير من هؤلاء المزيفين الكذابين ؛ يقول لك أنا سلفي وهو كذاب ، ما قال هذا إلا مكيدة ؛ مثل المنافق يقول : أنا مؤمن ، أنا مسلم ؛ يقول : أنا مسلم ! المنافق ويتصدق ويفعل كذا ، وهو يحارب الإسلام ويبغض أهله.

فكثير من الناس – الآن – من يقول : أنا سلفي ، ولا تراه إلا يبغض أهل الحديث ويطعن فيهم !!

أهل الحديث موجودون – والحمد لله – ؛ موجودون في مكة ، موجودون في المدينة ، موجودون في اليمن ، في الهند ، في باكستان ، في كل مكان ، وهو لا صلة له بأهل الحديث إلا الحرب ! يوالي أهل البدع ظاهراً وباطناً ويدافع عنهم ويستميت في الدفاع عنهم !

فهؤلاء لا شك أنهم مبتدعة ولو سموا أنفسهم ما سموا ، ووصفوا أنفسهم ما وصفوا ؛ فهذه من العلامات التي تبين حالهم).
